The beautiful SIA B777-300ER
SQ 15 SFO-ICN (San Francisco->Seoul/Incheon)
DEP SFO 14:10 20 AUG 2012
ARR ICN 17:50 20 AUG 2012
Flight Duration: 11:40
Aircraft: B777-300ER
After my flight from Chicago to Oakland Bay Area, it was time for me to go to Korea. I booked Singapore Airlines roundtrip ticket from SFO to Seoul-Incheon, since it was the cheapest offering between the two cities. The route is served by Singapore Airlines, Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and United Airlines, but Singapore Airlines and United had the lowest prices of around $800 roundtrip price. Since Singapore Airlines offers the better services and products, I chose Singapore Airlines. All Seoul-bound flights from SFO leave around noon-time, arriving in Seoul at around 5pm to 6pm the next day.
Let me rewind to the Southwest flight from Chicago-Midway to Oakland Aiport
Southwest flight 3322 boarding pass.
The B737-700 that would take me to West Coast
The flight took off around dinner time, so the sun was setting quickly.
In-flight scene for Southwest flight 3322
I love the abundance of snacks on Southwest flights
Arrived into Oakland Airport around 8PM local time!
It was pretty cold in the NorCal.
Picnic with friends~
Can't forget about In-N-Out in California trip!
I got the protein style burger. Trying to watch my figures!
Morning of 20 AUG, I took the BART train from Berkeley, CA to SFO. The trip is around 9 USD, and takes about 30-40 minutes.
Scene upon arrival into SFO BART Station
The BART train looks like this
I arrived at the airport way too early. The SQ counter wasn't even open yet!
The Korean Air (flight departing an hour earlier than SIA) counter was open at 10:30AM
The SIA counter was finally open close to noon time.
SFO International Terminal concourses are divided into A-gates and G-gates. Each concourse has its own security checkpoints. Korean Air/ Asiana Airlines gates are in A-gates, while United Airlines and most Star Alliance partners (Singapore Airlines, ANA, and Lufthansa were some of the ones I saw today) use the G-gates.
International G-concourse hallway
The G-gates were filled with United wide-bodies bound for Asia. ANA flight from Tokyo was taxing toward the G-concourse
My boarding pass.
Not too long after, Singapore Airlines SQ 016 just arrived from Seoul-Incheon. That United B747 is bound for Seoul/Incheon by the way.
The B777-300ER looks beautiful!
There was a Korean ground staff announcing in both English and Korean. United flight bound for Seoul/Incheon also had bilingual announcer at the gate.
Boarding the plane! My seat was on the right side toward the tail-end section (54K)
At the right side a Tokyo-Narita bound United B772ER just left.
AVOD system
And the plane took off toward Pacific.
Passing out hot towels shortly after take-off.
And the menus were distributed shortly after hot towels
And SQ peanuts with Coke
For lunch I chose chicken pasta. The side dishes were Turkey salad and bread with crackers and cheese.
That's the plane that left the gate to the right of us.
We flew past the plane.
I watched the Hunger Games (first movie) for the first time.
Since there would sunlight outside at all times during the flight, the flight attendants asked passengers to close the windows.
Meal 2 hours before landing into ICN. I got the braised beef.
Flying over the East Sea.
And around local time 17:20, the plane landed into ICN.
Walking to Train that would take me from satellite concourse to main terminal.
Korean Air-dominated main terminal
