After a short trip to Hamamatsu, Japan, it was time for me to go back to Korea.
I took Korean Air from Seoul-Incheon to Shizuoka, but I used my United mileage to book the return flight with Asiana Airlines. My friends were traveling on Korean Air roundtrip ticket, so they used Korean Air KE 780 to go back to Korea. My Asiana Airlines flight was only 30 minutes behind the Korean Air flight, so it wasn't a big deal. My friends would be waiting for me in Incheon Airport.
Korean Air uses B737 and Asiana Airlines uses A321.
It was a quiet Sunday afternoon that day. Shizuoka Airport was so small that people even parked on the airport ramps.
Entrance of the Shizuoka Airport terminal.
The Korean Air and Asiana Airlines counters were next to each other.
Since Shizuoka is famous for green tea fields, a lot of the stores were selling green tea related products. I taste-tested some green tea drinks and some green tea ice cream.
In Shizuoka Airport, they do not allow passengers to go through the customs and security too early, since the waiting room for the gates are space-limited.
My friends boarding the Korean Air flight back to Seoul/Incheon.
That's the KE 780 B737-900ER bound for Seoul/Incheon.
KE 780 taking off toward south.
My Asiana Airlines boarding pass and the Japan departure sticker.
The Asiana Airlines flight which was slightly delayed from Seoul/Incheon.
The aircraft was A321.
And the boarding process started not too long after. The flight attendants didn't even leave the aircraft since this would be a quick turn-around flight for them.
The economy class on Asiana A321 is divided into two sections. On the middle there are two restrooms.
The plane wasn't even half full that day. I am not sure if Korean Air and Asiana Airlines would be profiting from this flight. (update: Korean Air discontinued Shizuoka flights as of 2014).
And the plane took off toward southeast.
Goodbye Hamamatsu!
Nagoya airspace.
You could see the Nagoya JR station.
Over Nagoya, I received the in-flight meal. (there were no choices given)
The meal was chicken/rice, vegetable salad, and chocolate cake. This hot meal is much better offering than Korean Air on this same route.
Still over Nagoya.
This cake was the bomb!
While waiting to use the bathroom.
And after 1 hour and 50 minutes of flight, we were approaching Incheon Airport. That's Incheon/Songdo city.
And the Incheon Grand Bridge.
It is the longest bridge in Korea.
After landing we proceeded toward the Asiana side of the main terminal.
And the short trip to Japan has ended!
