To take advantage of the three-day weekend, my friends and I decided to visit our friends in Hamamatsu-Shi of Japan. Hamamatsu is located about 3-4 hour driving distance from Tokyo and about 2-3 hour driving distance from Nagoya. We had a choice of using Nagoya/Chubu Airport or Shizuoka Airport but we decided to use the latter since it was a bit closer to the house we would be staying in for the weekend. This trip would be the second time I'll be visiting Japan.
I booked the outbound ICN-FSZ segment through Korean Air with mileage, using 15000 miles. For the return flight, I booked with Asiana Airlines, using only 10000 miles with the United Airlines mileage I previously stacked up.
We left from Daejeon, and since the flight was at 8:30AM, we took the 3:20AM red-eye bus from Daejeon City Hall to Incheon Airport, arriving at around 6:30AM. We went straight from a bar to the bus ride, so we were dead tired...!

Our boarding passes
The new Korean Air B737-900ER, recently delivered last year.
I spotted some Brazilians on this flight. There are surprisingly many Brazilian-Japanese citizens living in Hamamatsu Area of Japan.
The plane interior was very clean. It was the Boeing Sky Interior and felt very new. The load factor for today's flight was roughly 60%. (I know Korean Air has recently discontinued this flight).
The breakfast which was quickly served after take-off.
The meal consisted of muffin, water, yogurt, and pineapple chunk.
We were crossing the East Sea by this time.
See you in two days!
Plane interior.
The shores of Japan.
Kobe and Osaka should've been visible to the right by now...
But the clouds made it almost impossible.
The bay of Nagoya.
The plane started descending by now.
That mountain over there is Fuji Mountain.
My first time seeing this mountain from the south side.
And the Shizuoka City.
The plane landed with great bump.
And we've arrived at the Shizuoka Airport terminal!
Hamamatsu City downtown.
Lunch for today was at a mall food court.
My favorite.. the salmon roe.
Excellent selection for 100 Yen.
The kaiten-sushi restaurant next day for lunch.
Pretty much a heaven for me.
You can pick up any dish you want or order something custom-made.
And there is a separate rail for express service for those custom-made dishes.
Hamamatsu City panoramic view.
Gyozas and ramen for dinner.
This was seriously the best ramen I've ever had in my life.
We spent some part of that night at the arcades.
